iPhone Xr was detailed by Phil Schiller on the stage of the Steve Jobs Theatre – the new flagship from Apple is attempting to bring the all-screen design first introduced last year with the iPhone X at a lower cost than ever.
The iPhone Xr boasts a 6.1-inch screen that harnesses the power of LCD technology rather than the OLED present in the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max.
While this means colours will not appear as rich as on its more premium brothers, the phone still takes advantage of Apple’s Retina technology, meaning everything will look incredibly crisp and vibrant.
iPhone Xr uses Face ID as the primary method of unlocking the device and features a single camera sensor on its rear.
The iPhone Xr does not feature 3D Touch functionality, instead it comes with what Apple is calling Haptic Touch that attempts to replicate the same experience.
iPhone Xr comes with a single camera system on its rear.
The sensor is 12 megapixels and comes with optical image stabilisation.
The device also features the A12 Bionic chip, the same as in the iPhone Xs and Xs Max.
That means it should be able to blitz through tasks with ease.
And Apple is claiming the battery life on the hardware will provide an hour and a half more life than the iPhone 8 Plus.
iPhone Xr will be pre-installed with iOS 12 – the new software offers a score of new features that will surely be adored by Apple fans.
That means as soon as customers pick up the all-screen device they will be able to start FaceTime calls with up to 32 people at once.
And notifications on their hardware will be easier to access than ever.
That is because iOS 12 groups alerts from specific apps together, meaning they are now more organised overall.
iPhone Xr users will also be able to harness Apple’s Animoji feature that first debuted on the iPhone X last year.
New characters have been added in iOS 12, meaning iPhone Xr owners can pretend to be a koala, tiger, ghost or T. rex.
iPhone Xr will be available in 64, 128 and 256GB storage options.
Apple fans can order the new device on October 19 and the phone will ship on October 26.
It starts at $749 for the smallest amount of memory.
